What is our average project cost?
$4,000 before applying any tax-credit savings. This figure is based on the average home needing 10 windows and typical upgrades like window grids, exterior wraps, etc.

Do our windows qualify for the new federal tax-credit?
Yes. The energy tax-credit reduces your tax bill or increases the money you get back on your tax return by up to $1,500. All of our windows qualify for the credit. See more on the tax-credit program here.

Does every window company sell windows that qualify for the tax-credit?
No. Not every company has a window that qualifies. Their window must have a NFRC U-Factor rating of 0.30 or better. Even if their window is ENERGYSTAR certified it may not meet this standard.

What are other ways to reduce your project cost?
Major gas utilities offers a rebate for installing ENERGYSTAR certified windows. Many larger oil companies do as well. Ask your RiteWindow Representative and energy supplier for details.

Do replacement windows pay for themselves?
Eventually yes. Today's new windows will save you money on your fuel bill, but how soon you reach the break-even point depends on the price you paid for the windows in relation to their energy-efficiency. Even with a highly energy-efficient window it will take over ten years to break-even if you spent $20,000 on the project. Rite Window's U-factor insulation rating of .30 with an average project price of $4,000 means your windows will "pay for themselves" sooner, in approximately 5-to-8 years.

What areas of New England does RiteWindow serve?
Massachusetts; New Hampshire; Southern Maine; all of Rhode Island.

How can you check on Rite Window’s service record?

Does choosing a vinyl window limit your design options?
No. Years ago this was true. Today with advances in vinyl technology homeowners can choose windows with sleek sculptured frames; woodgrain finishes; diamond grids; beveled, leaded, or stained glass. Ask your RiteWindow Representative for more information. Vinyl has always been the best option for energy efficiency and maintenance-free ownership, and today’s designs are more attractive than ever.

Are all our windows custom-built?
Yes. Each window installed during your project is custom-made to fit the exact size and shape needed for each individual opening in your home.

How long does it take to get your windows?
Your measurements are submitted immediately. Your windows arrive from our manufacturer and are installed within 6-8 weeks.

How long does it take to do the installation?
The average job is completed in one day. More complex projects can take longer, but that is not typical.

Do Rite Window installers have specialized training?
Yes. The foreman on each of our crews has years of experience in both carpentry and window replacement. They have also passed a rigorous certification program administered by A.W.D.I. and our manufacturing partner Gorell. All RiteWindow installation teams are licensed, bonded, and insured.

Does Rite Window install windows year-round?
Yes. RiteWindow installs windows year-round including the winter months.

During installation Is your house exposed to the elements?
No. Our installers install one window at a time and complete most projects in one day so your home is never exposed to the elements for any extended period of time. In the event of heavy rain or snow we reschedule your installation in a timely manner.

Does installation require altering the wall or window frame?
No. Double-hung replacement windows are installed in the existing opening. Except in special situations there is no cutting or damage to your window moldings or walls.

How do you prepare your house for the installation?
Our installers will need an open work area in front of each window. Move anything that may be in the way; remove all wall decorations close to the windows; take down all window curtains and blinds; disable window security systems. On the outside of your home protect all plantings below each window

What happens to your old windows?
We will remove them from your property and properly dispose of them. This service is included in the window price.

What is a Double-Hung window?
A window with two sash frames, an upper and lower, that can slide up and down past each other.

What is a Casement window?
A window hinged on one side so that it swings out or in to open. (Usually by turning a crank)

What is an Awning window?
Like a casement, but the hinge is on top and they tilt out at the bottom.

What is a Bay window?
Bay windows project out from the wall with a center glass section parallel to the wall flanked by two glass panels attached at an angle.

What is a Picture window?
A framed window, usually larger in size, with no method of opening

What is Low-E glass
Low-e glass is short for low-emissivity glass. It’s a very thin coat of material on the glass to make it more energy efficient. Low-E coatings help reflect heat away from the glass surface keeping heat out in the summer and desired heat inside in the winter. Low-e coatings also reduce furniture and carpet fading by lowering the amount of ultraviolet (UV) radiation that enters your home. The RiteWindow 5100 Series window comes with Low-E

What is argon gas fill?
Filling the gap between the glass panes with low-conductivity argon gas reduces conductive heat transfer and improves window performance. Argon gas has excellent thermal performance and cost-efficiency in comparison to other gas fills. The RiteWindow 5100 Series comes with an argon gas fill.

What is ENERGY STAR?
ENERGY STAR is a U.S. government program that establishes a standard set of guidelines to recognize the energy efficiency of various products. Over the past 10 years ENERGY STAR guidelines have helped double the efficiency of windows they endorse. All RiteWindow products are ENERGY STAR certified.

What is the NFRC?
NFRC stands for the National Fenestration Rating Council, a program established by the U.S. Dept of Energy to help consumers compare the energy-efficiency of window products. Manufacturers participating in the program are required to label every window with its thermal performance and U-Factor rating. Not all window manufacturers participate because it requires outside third party inspection and extensive product testing. RiteWindow is a participant in the NFRC program.

How can you compare the energy-efficiency of windows?
Look at the U-Factor. The U-factor is the window energy performance rating given by the National Fenestration Rating Council (NFRC). U-factor measures how well a window prevents heat from escaping. The lower the U-factor the better its insulating value. U-factor ratings generally range between 0.20 and 1.20. The RiteWindow 5100 Series double-hung has a NFRC labeled U-factor rating of 0.30.

What does EPA Lead-Safe Certified mean?
A new federal law mandating lead-safe practices went into effect April 2010. The law requires contractors working on homes built before 1978 be certified by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and follow specific procedures to prevent lead paint contamination. See details here.

Is Rite Window an EPA Lead-Safe Certified company?
Yes. Our management and installation crews have completed EPA lead-safe training, and Rite Window has been fully certified by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). See our certification here.
