How soon will I get my windows installed?
After placing your order, the window measurements are immediately submitted and your windows arrive and are installed within 6-8 weeks. (Each window is custom-built according to your project specifications.) The average job is completed in a day or two. More complex projects can take longer, but it is not typical.
In what part of the house does the installation begin?
Upon arrival our crew leader surveys the job to determine where to begin. Feel free to advise us if you have a preference, and we will accommodate you the best we can. The project takes place in multiple stages (i.e. - removal of the old windows, setting the new window, wrapping the exterior, etc.). For a better-quality install and improved efficiency, each operation is done on all windows at one time.
What about my curtains and drapes?
All blinds, shades, curtains, inside shutters, drapes and any other window covering should be removed prior to installation. Also remove any fragile wall hangings that may be of concern. If you need assistance we will gladly help.
Do I need to move my furniture?
No. Installers need 2 feet in front of each window on the inside. Move aside any furnishings very close to the window area. We will gladly assist you with moving heavy items. It is advisable to gather important papers and other small items and relocate them. Computers and other electronic equipment should be covered or relocated.
What about plants outside the windows?
We will likely need to work in planters and other landscaped areas surrounding your home. Please survey your yard looking for potential problem areas. Some trees and bushes may need to be pruned back. You may also want to temporarily relocate delicate plants. We make every effort to be careful, but we can not be responsible for damage to plants directly in the work area.
Where does most of the installation work take place?
We set up a main worksite where the windows and wraps are prepared. The worksite should be as close to the job as possible and usually your driveway is the best spot. Please move your car to an area where it will not be blocked by the worksite.
What time of day does the installation take place?
We arrive between 9am-10am depending on your distance from our office and traffic. We generally stay until the job is done, unless it will be a large 2-3 day job, in which case we may work as long as there is daylight. If this is not convenient and you would like our installers to leave at a certain time, please advise our office when scheduling your installation. If inclement weather is in the forecast for the day of installation call our office and we will reschedule.
What if my current windows have security alarms?
If you have an alarm system connected to your current windows, you should notify your alarm company. We have experience removing the contact sensors from the sashes and can do that if you wish. Your alarm contractor will be responsible for reestablishing the system with your new windows.
Do you need to cut my walls to install the window?
No. Double-hung replacement windows are installed in the existing opening. Most jobs require no cutting of your existing moldings or walls.
Will my installation be postponed if the weather is bad?
We will postpone the installation only in the event of severe weather conditions. RiteWindow installs windows year-round, in most all weather, including the winter months. In the event of heavy rain or snow, we reschedule your installation in a timely manner.
What happens to my old windows?
We remove your old windows from your property and properly dispose of them.
Do you clean-up after the installation?
Yes. It’s a reality of remodeling, construction work causes disruption and can create a mess. We do our best to minimize any disruption during the project and we clean up once the job is complete. (Note, we do not remove the window stickers because you will need to hold them to receive utility rebates and tax credits.) Upon completion of the job, please survey your house for any issues we may have overlooked.
What happens when the project is complete?
The project isn’t complete until you are completely satisfied with our work. If you have any issues please bring them to the attention of the Crew Foreman, or call our office at 800-639-7000. Thank you for choosing RiteWindow of New England. The right window, professionally installed, for the right price...
How does the EPA Lead Safety Law effect the installation?
It guarantees the installation is done properly, and ensures the health and safety of your family. Rite Window will contain the work area to prevent lead exposure beyond the site. Use construction methods that minimize the creation of dust. Clean the work area of dust, wood chips, and construction debris before exiting the work zone. Remove old windows and debris from your property for proper disposal.
